Wedding preparations - also your skin needs some time to be at its best

06 March 2018

You are already looking forward to that date for months, to the day that will change many things in your life. Often, your focus for preparations is not - or too late - on yourself. So many other things need your attention, the planning of the ceremony itself and of the party afterwards, meals, dress, flowers, venue, etc. Thinking of oneself usually comes at a time when many things can no longer be influenced and the only thing that helps is a miracle.

To make sure that does not happen, we give you here some ideas for proper skin care and good time management, so that you will be able to present yourself as the perfect bride on your big day. In addition to the carefully chosen dress, also a radiant complexion and the smile of the bride on the many photos taken that day make the event memorable for all participants.

Our skin care expert recommends: Start taking care of yourself at least three months before the actual wedding date!

Selection of beauty salon / make-up artist / hairdresser:

If you haven’t already got a beautician/make-up artist who takes care of your skin regularly, select one and remember also to find a hairdresser with creative ideas for your hair. Appointments in May, June, July are in great demand for these services. So don’t hesitate for too long.

Your skin care schedule:

A good beautician and especially a make-up artist will advise you to start your skin care preparations a lot earlier than just two weeks before the wedding. Your face and body care program should indeed begin at least 10 weeks in advance. If you want to look fresh and relaxed on the wedding day, it starts with an even skin and a professional make-up with camouflage, which definitely requires a healthy skin as a foundation. The eyebrows must be in shape and the skin cleansed and spotless, well-nourished and moisturized, and not scaly (regular peelings!). 10 weeks before the event you can set up a program consisting of professional treatments in the beauty salon and continuation of the treatment with home care products in between the salon treatments.

The beautician analyzes which active ingredients your skin currently needs and which products make sense in order to improve the skin surface and complexion. Therefore, make appointments for face treatments at the salon every four weeks and put the last one 5 days before the wedding date. This helps also the make-up artist to create a make-up that perfectly matches the glamour of your dress.

The bridal make-up:

If the make-up artist is not the beautician, make an appointment for a sample make-up well in advance. With the make-up expert you can discuss the colors and intensity of your make-up and decide whether you want it to be made before or after the hairdressing appointment. Both are possible, but it is advisable to go to the hairdresser’s first. It helps to relax the time management on both sides and ensures the final wow-effect when looking in the mirror when the make-up is done. Also discuss whether your make-up artist comes to your home or to your hairdresser for the make-up. This will save you precious time on the day of the wedding, which you will probably need for other last-minute things. Remember, also on your wedding day - one hour still has only 60 minutes and they pass faster than you think. Agree with the make-up artist, whether she/he has lipsticks on offer that you can buy or do you need to buy one for the wedding day elsewhere. If you buy your perfume and your lipstick yourself, take them with you to the sample make-up appointment, so that the make-up artist gets an idea of what you like and can advise you how to match them with the make-up, the dress and the flowers.

Best care for hands and feet:

Now you have done a great deal for your complexion and the radiance of your face. But do not forget your hands and feet, because they also need to be taken care of. Especially the hands will have an important and visible role on your wedding day: First, the ring (photos!) and after the ceremony, everyone will want to see the ring, not to forget the countless handshakes with everyone who comes to congratulate. Therefore, provide your hands and nails with an intensive daily care, e.g. with our Hand Care Cream. Perform a weekly hand peel with the peeling product from your skin care line of choice and then apply a nourishing hand mask, e.g. Rich Energy Mask from our Demanding Skin line or Soothing Face Mask from the Sensitive Skin line. Distribute the mask generously over your hands in the evening, put on cosmetic gloves and the the mask work overnight. When you remove the residues in the morning, you will already see a visible improvement of the skin surface.

Avoid colored nail polish before the wedding (because of the yellowish shade on the nails) if you want to leave the nails natural or only painted in French style. An insider tip from our skin care expert for beautiful nails and neat cuticles is Face Oil from the series Dry Skin by JANSSEN COSMETICS. Get yourself into professional hands for the nail and foot care and arrange your appointments on time. Consider these dates at the beautician, make-up artist, nail salon and foot care as little breaks for yourself in this stressful preparation period. As you know, the more relaxed you are, the more you will shine on your wedding day.

We wish you a very relaxed and successful preparation of your wedding. We hope you look forward to the most beautiful day in your life and that you will find the optimal care and make-up for the the event. At best, you will be cared for with the professional skin care products, make-up and camouflage by JANSSEN COSMETICS. If you have any questions, please contact us. We can certainly help.

Best regards from Aachen, Germany
