Since 1993 Janssen Cosmetics has been based in the business park “Pascalstrasse” in Aachen, at the two addresses Pontsheide and Hirzenrott. In time for the 20th anniversary of the company in 2017, an additional commercial property was acquired at that location from the city of Aachen and planning for an additional extension building began. The new building, a multi-functional construction with sales offices on the roof top, a ground floor order packing and shipping department, with first floor functional areas for packaging and assembing sets of cosmetic products, printing of packaging components of all kinds and further assembling activities, has now been completed and part of the rooms are already in use since the end of July 2018.
Thus, "Hirzenrott" is developing to an attractive, commercial Cosmetic Hub, where No. 20 now houses four companies:
The various construction projects under way close one of the last gaps in the commercial area on Pascalstrasse.
With the official opening of the new office and functional building, Janssen Cosmetics also takes a further step in the forward-looking development of marketing, sales and logistics activities for its worldwide shipped products. At Janssen Cosmetics we call this offensive "Cosmeceuticals 4.0" because we not only want to participate in the new level of "Industry 4.0", but also want to use this digitization to position ourselves for the future, to the benefit of our employees, as well as our customers and business partners all over the world.
Janssen Cosmetics employed a total of four people when the company initially started in 1997, eight in the year 2000, fifteen in 2005 and over 20 in 2008. Today, 40 employees work at the Aachen premises, generating sales of € 10 million at wholesale prices. The new functional building was built with the support of the Regional Development Program (RWP) in North Rhine-Westphalia and seven employees have been added alone in the last 1 ½ years.
The product range of Janssen Cosmetics, in total 300 formulations, have been researched and developed in the Dr. Sacher Laboratory over the past 25 years. The main customers are cosmetic salons, spas and wellness facilities. Worldwide, we supply more than 80 exclusive wholesalers and these in turn supply about 13,000 beauty salons.
In Germany, France and Great Britain, the cosmetic salons are directly supplied directly from Aachen. This resulted in the need for new facilities for parcel assembly and shipping. The number of parcel shipments has risen sharply in recent years also because of online sales. All orders are processed, invoiced and shipped using digital technology.
Each product has its own identity thanks to a serial QR code that tracks the trade route of the product to the end user. Also the consumer has the opportunity, to view all product information in his own language with the help of the QR code. The number of languages is currently limited, but steadily expanding.
It's worthwhile taking a look at our website www.janssen-cosmetics.com, because it is possible to order products directly via the website and to obtain advice on the correct use of the different preparations. This is applicable for consumers, retailers and wholesalers alike.
Beyond Germany, France and Great Britain, exports account for around 85% of our total sales. Despite the Crimea/Ukraine crisis, the largest buyer is still Russia, followed by Germany, China, Pakistan, the Czech Republic and the USA. Especially in Germany, Janssen Cosmetics wants to gain market share in the coming years, because the brand is already considered today an insider's tip among beauticians and their customers. It stands for quality, efficiency, safety and sustainability, as well as for honesty and reliability among business partners and customers.
Increased digitization, which is also reflected in further improvements in customer service and product innovation, should help to keep the company on track for growth over the coming years.
